Dixie Flicks

I've heard over the last several days that the Dixie Chicks have been a talkin again.

Now, I'm a huge fan of country music. I used to love the Dixie sluts too. But, after their remarks about the President, I stopped listening to them. I threw out the cd's I'd bought and I still change the station if they come on the radio. That's my right.

Look, they had every right to speak their mind. It's a free country. And, had they done it here in the USA, I would chalk it up to free-speech, but they disparaged our President-like him or not-on foreign soil, and I don't hang with that.

Now, they've a new cd coming out, where they get out some teen-angst-like rage at the President, those who got pissed at 'em and jest about everyone else.

Now they are going round giving the obligatory interviews. I heard them on 60 minutes in one interview last week where one of the three said she didn't care about losing fans now that country's "gone all redneck" and that it is better to have a group of progressive fans then all those rednecks. She says that its a negative, being a redneck that is. Hmmmm. Who the hell she calling redneck? Me? My Ivy League lawyer ass? Hmmmm. Well, she won't be getting any of my ivy-'neck money that's fo-sho!

Today I heard one of the others in an interview in which she said they'd rather have a few "cool" fans than have their cd in a 5-disk changer in-between Reba and Toby Keith. She done crossed a sacred line. Reba? What the hell is wrong with Reba? The star, the philanthropist, Fancy!

Perhaps all those millions the chicks made off us Reba-loving rednecks ought to be returned in the form of a refund. I believe I'm owed about $30.00 for buying their trash and since I bill my time at upwards of $200.00 an hour, and my time is pretty valuable, they owe me for wasting my time too. I like small bills.

They are rich now, so their uneducated country asses are too good for us common-folk. Well, I got some news for them - stupid don't financially discriminate.

Is it just me, or does having country singers using "redneck" as a slur just PEG the irony meter?

I think it's just hilarious about the Dixie Chicks. I have friends who met them at their campground when they were nobody's and played at the Walnut Valley Festival in Kansas. They were really nice girls then. How they have let fame go to their heads. And now they bash their fanbase? Not very smart. They'll be making the rounds on the has-been circuit before long.

The Ditzy Chimps will never see any of my money.

What's sad is that they are very talented... great harmonies, and they can play. But about the time I was considering buying them, Natalie went and shot her fool mouth off.

I find it interesting -- someone disagrees with you, so they're "sluts." 1 Guy considers them "animals."

Given that the President has lied to us, has admitted he lied to us, and has said that the Constitution is just a "goddamn piece of paper," I personally think he has gone a long way toward eroding the office of the President.

Does that make me a "sub-human" too, able to be disposed of "quietly and without sorrow" (as the Scientologists would say)?

Ohhh...I like you Oddy too much to respond to Rob's comment so I won't. Not outloud anyway. Never trash someone else's house. It's a rule of mine.

I'll just say I was a huge fan. But when my CD's got stolen it was just about the time Natalie shot off her mouth. Again, it was her right just as it's my right to disagree and not spend my money on them.

They exercise their rights, I exercise mine.

But this crap of ignoring, no insulting their fan base - just suicide.

I'm with you - they ain't gettin' any of my dough. Nope. Not one thin dime.

Rob, I'll respond to you for a few reasons:

1. This is white trash weds. So, I'm entitled to throw epithets at the Dixie Dolts. I prefer the term celebrity whore, but hey, I'm a redneck so sluts it is.

2. It has absolutely nothing to do with what they said about the President as opposed to where they said it. Do your bashing here, it's free speech, do it on foreign ground and it's slander and done just for the photo shoot in my book. Hey, I'm entitled to my opinion - this is my blog!

3. They have earned nothing but disrespect from me because they have now taken to disparaging their fan base. You know, the one's who made them rich and famous. Yep, we are just a lot of backwoods ignorant rednecks cause we don't agree with them. Sorry, I'm not buying it. Redneck? maybe, ignorant? nope. We know when we are being insulted - those who don't? "Here's your sign!"

4. Rob, you, like everyone else are entitled to your opinion about the President. I'm not going to comment about your thoughts on him - this isn't Gun Toting Liberal's site! ;) No, I'm going to tell you that I'm not PC here. Never was. I don't do the whole "be kind" routine. If "sluts" "whores" or "chimps" are too much for you - skip along.I'll give you the benefit of the doubt cause I heard you was good peeps.
But this now makes twice that you have come here to disparage something I've written.
If you recall, the first was my alcohol alergy post - which by the way is absolutely possible and sometimes deadly.

I don't mind your comments Rob, I'm glad you came to visit, but seriously dude, lighten up.

Channeling chicks, huh?

HAHAHAHAHAAAA!

Are you sure we aren't related?

Somewhere, somehow our dads could have been cousins?

hheheeheheeee.

Why listen to their version of Landslide when the Smashing Pumpkins did a cover that is so much better? ;)

I don't know what Billy Corgan's political views are, he probably hates Bush, but I don't care as long as he keeps making decent music.

Biting the hand that feeds you. That's smart...

And I thought they learned something the last time. Apparently not.

Posted by: Richmond at May 24, 2006 01:09 PM

You know, Oddy, you're allowed to make up words, too...just by combining other words -- like "Slore" for example...

Posted by: Ogre at May 24, 2006 02:21 PM

You know, you might have an idea there... return the CD's to the record company and demand your money back. *grin*

How incredibly stupid can a person be, to alienate the very people who got you to where you are now? Smashmouth has a song (sorry don't remember the name, it's on their first CD) the lyrics go...

Who do you know comin' up?
Who will you know goin' down?

It's too late for them to consider it now, but I bet they live to regret throwing the largest segment of their fan base under the bus. And as their popularity wanes, they'll find out that they don't know anyone on the way down.

Curse Google! I landed here by accident, and I gotta get out of here..quick! I just don't belong at a Bush rave with the 29% of the country that think Bush is doing a good job! You haters go ahead and play a little Toby to make yourselves feel better while you bash the Chicks. Deep down inside, you know they were right.

Posted by: lala at May 29, 2006 09:00 AM

Personally, I'm not much of a Bush fan, except for the tax cuts & dead terrorists parts.

Anyway, just what was it that the Chicks were right about?

"Just so you know, we're ashamed the president of the United States is from Texas"

I suppose they're right about feeling ashamed.

Like those on foreign soil give us their respect. Okay, some do, as Britain. Jordan is something of an ally. But others see us as arrogant, materialistic, and quick to jump in even though what was happening was doing just fine withouth us, thank you very much. Something to be said for that, I think...
