And It Begins

Well, yesterday was eventful. I received a call from our wonderful sitter at 4:30:

"The Boy fell and cut his head on a filing cabinet. He is fine, we cleaned him up and put on a spiderman bandaid."

UPDATE: So as not to give the wrong impression of my sitter - the Boy truly was fine at the time. The cut got bigger after the swelling started up.

At 5:45 I receive this call from my clueless hubby: "I sent you a text message of the Boy's head." It was fine and now it isn't, should I take him to the hospital?"

I looked at the following picture:

Looks bad enough for a stitch says I . . . but I have the insurance card and I would like to see it upclose. So the hubby comes to me with the Boy and yep, needs a stitch, probably two. The cut is an inch long and pretty deep - fleshy deep and the swelling is continuing.

So, the husband takes the boy to the hospital and we have our first official stitches. My sweet boy is stitched - oh, and for the record, I was wrong. It took 4 stitches, a boo-boo bear, some stickers and an orange popcicle to make him right again!

Oh gosh, I hope his head isn't hurting today. I always have my sitter send me pictures of anything that happens for that reason, what's a simple cut or bruise is never that.

Having first aid training though means that I'm able to handle most of the simple surface stitches than the deep lasceration ones. Pictures are also a very good idea to document and establish any patterns - of carelessness, neglect, or responsibility - if need be.

Holy cow, that looked really bad! I'm surprised that the sitter thought it wasn't serious.

Aww poor little guy! Hope he is feeling better.

It was the orange popsicle that did the most good, of course.

Glad the little man is ok!

Poor little guy. CTG is right though. *grin*

OTOH I bet he's feeling better than you are today.

... that is going to leave one SWEET scar.... oh yeah.....

Posted by: Eric at April 18, 2007 06:42 PM

We have a nice scar like that. 2 stitches in the muscle and 6 external. Let me tell you, just to forewarn you, Ringo did say it ached for months... about 6 months to a year he actually would say something every once in awhile, rubbing it.

Poor dude. :( He needs a good story for when he's a teenager picking up chicks. "I was fighting against some bandits... and i was outnumbered, and one drew his sword." :) You have time to work on a good story!

Yowzah! That's gonna leave a mark. Poor little guy.

Mmm. orange Popsicles.

His first manly scar!

Glad the little guy is ok!

And little guy? Milk it for all it's worth, I'm thinking plenty of ice cream, some movies and cuddling is the least you should go for!!!

It's an occupational hazard for all lil' 'Necks in training. Take him fishin' and it'll quit hurtin'. Works for me when my head hurts...

That is gonna be awesome! Chicks dig facial scars. My boy got six stitches in his eyebrow before his first birthday. I have never been so proud before or since, actually.

What Two Dogs said. The boy's gonna be even more of a chick magnet than ever with that thing :-)
