I've Got a Problem!

It is time to confess, my closest friends are already aware and they have tried to get me help, but I've not been receptive. I have a problem. I'm not entirely sure there is a name for it yet.

It is Overachiever Syndrome or possibly "I Work 65 Hours a Week, Campaign for Judge, Volunteer at My Fire Department and am a Mom, I Need to Do More! Syndrome"

So in true Oddy fashion, I have planned an Easter Party. Yep, my big annual Easter Egg Hunt. The weather is not cooperating. I've not been food shopping in ages. I sleep very little, I've two campaign stops on the same day and . . . wait for it . . . I need some quality mommy time with the Boy. And yesterday, I volunteered to host a training for our Fire and EMS departments.

But, I'm Egg Hunting/Hiding this weekend still. Usually, I am ultra organized, this year? It is supposed to be cold and snowing so it is going to be slap-dash to get everyone back in the house.

Oh, and did I mention I am cooking Easter Sunday for the whole family??????

Excuse me while I go cry now! Better still, does anyone have a cure for my problem? Is there an Overachievers Anony. anywhere? Anyone?

Just say no!!!

Seriously, I think a lot of us suffer from that very same issue. Maybe we can form our own support group!

Make a list of everything you have going on with number of hours devoted to each thing. Every time you are tempted to do yet another project, haul out the list and look at it. See how much time you have available...

Then say NO! *grin*

Sounds like someone could use a spa day.... just as a reminder what the phrase "take it easy" means :-)

Hoo boy... I can loan you my bunny ears??

Take it easy, Oddy. And for heaven's sake, schedule yourself some down time. Okay?

Delegate, delegate, delegate...except for the Mommy and Boy time. Priorities, ya know.

Sorry that I have to be the turd in the punchbowl, but you have made the obligations and the committments to the things that you have chosen. You chose these things and you can sleep when you are dead. And there is always enough time to complete the things that are important, Your Honor. Now, go take care of your shit.

Well, if you can't delegate, delegate, delegate, in order to do it all sometimes, you might have to consolidate, consolidate, consolidate. You can only be in one spot at one time. So, have the training/easter egg hunt/dinner/campaign stops all in one. If you need a hint on how to consolidate all of those commitments into one, dare I say, just ask... if you dare.

Somebody is bound to start a fire, or get hurt at such a large gatherhing... Training mission accomplished. If you're lucky, they'll do it while helping you hide easter eggs.(two in one shot so far). Put some meal tickets on the bottome of some chairs and don't let anybody eat without one. Once they're all sittin' down, you can knock out your campaign stops and in closing, let 'em know where the food stamps are... Now the cookin' part might take a little help from your friends, but there's a few deals consolidated.

Just remember, while you're having a good time with family, some of us are slaving for the man on Easter.

Happy Easter! For what it's worth, I hope you drank the NyQuil. Or took the blue pill. Or whatever.... Just give yourself a break! :)
