Houston, We Have a Problem

Or rather, I have a problem.

I wasn't going to put this out there, but hey, what are the interwebs for after all?

I have got myself a stalker. Seriously, and one of the worst kind. A political one.

He has come to my home, he calls several times a day and he scares the ever living you know what out of me.

He calls to rant about political injustices - none of which make any sense at all, and none of which have anything to do with the race I am running.

At one point during a message he left at my home yesterday, he was yelling so loudly, I expect he popped a vein.

My hubby is on nights so I slept with Mr. Shiney last night and I left the house with Mr. Shiney's smaller cousin this a.m. I locked my door! I never lock my door. We live 2/10ths of a mile from the road, no need to lock the door - till now.

He actually came to my home though, so that is what makes me nervous. The guy is off his nut.

He has been arrested before for stalking a teacher he didn't like. Arrested for harassing his ex-wife. I'm seeing a pattern.

One message he left at my home was that he had stopped at several attorneys' offices in the area to rant about some police injustice. He is not affiliated with those attorneys.

Seriously, I'm not sure what to do. He knows where I live!

Mr. Shiney is well oiled and fully loaded with some hollow points . . . other than that, I know not what to do. Any suggestions?

Oh, and I've not involved the authorities as I think that will really set him off.

1) Mr Shiney

2) Tell police, file a report, even if they can't really DO anything. Get it on file.

3) Screen your calls. Keep the messages he leaves.

4) You might need to notify security at your office. That sucks, but it's not a bad idea.

Been there. Done this. Not for political reasons, but the process and feelings are exactly the same.

I HATE that this is happening to you. Please. Be careful.

What Tammi said, in that order. Be careful!!

Tell the cops and go and practice shooting your gun.

After filing a police report about him, call them if he shows up at your door again.

One of his goals is to try and frighten you into inaction. Mr. Shiney is all well and good, but you do need some extra watchfulness from your fellow police officers.

It seems as if he's already been set off, so not informing the police only plays into his hands - especially if you end up having to defend yourself. Without any police reports - if you must fight him off - it looks like you "attacked" a man who came to your door with a grievance instead of fighting off a stalking whacko.

I know you'll be keeping your eyes open - be aware all the time of what's around you whenever you leave the house. And keep the doors locked all the time! For heaven sake girl! I do that and I live in the middle of a freaking forest! You need to invest in some city caution I think.

He may eventually go away once the election is over - but if he continues after that - then it's time for a restraining order - at least if he shows up after that, you can have him arrested instead of having the cops escort him off your property.

*sigh*

Tammi's right, keep Mr. Shiney handy, and keep your eyes on the little man in case the crackpot comes by again.

Mr. Shiney.

Notify the Law.

BIG ASSED FAROOKIN' PINK MEAT LOVIN' DOGS to buy you some time, and give you some warnin'. Preferably a tag team of 'em.

Buy the boy a Louisville Slugger. Show him where to aim it... or how to keep his eye on the ball.

I agree with Tammi, take this guy seriously! I know the laws are different in each state but can you apply for a concealed weapon’s permit? Again, Oddy, take this thing seriously, that’s the one mistake most people do not…

Involve the authorities. NOW! Give them copies of all the messages he leaves. Have him arrested for trespassing if he comes back to your house.

He's counting on your fear of escalating things to keep him free to continue harassing you. Don't let him get away with it.

Seriously. Been there, done that. If you don't involve the authorities, he's just going to keep pushing to see how much he can get away with. You'll be like the proverbial frog in the slowly heating pot, and you won't know it's gone too far until it's too late. Get the authorities involved, keep them involved, and let him know you've done so. And if it does set him off, then you'll be prepared (not worn down), and you'll have the law on your side already, and he's toast.

Mr. Shiney's a good Plan B, but it would be better to get this guy smacked down by the long arm of the law, smacked down so hard he doesn't dare get back up.

I have had not one but 2 political stalkers. I nearly lost my life to the 2nd one. It took 2 huge police officers to physically remove him off of me to stop him from killing me. I AM NOT JOKING! This man is mentally unstable and therefore doesn't have a pattern. He also doesn't have a way you can reason with him and the only course (in his mind) is for him to escalate his impending sense of injustice. This will only get worse as no one can or will ever satisfy or remedy HIS sense of justice.

Here's what I suggest:
1) Carry Mr. Shiney EVERYWHERE - BUY A HOLSTER IF YOU HAVE TO.

2) Before you file an official complaint write down dates/times and mode of contact and essense of threating message. DO NOT MINIMIZE THREAT WITH INOCOUS OR PASSIVE LANGUAGE

3) FILE THE REPORT WITH THE AUTHORITIES! and go to the gun range! I mean it!

4) DO NOT SPEAK TO HIM - When he shows up at your house CALL THE POLICE & KEEP THE PHONE LINE OPEN as you tell him through the door that you cannot speak with him now and to please leave. Let the Police hear your conversation. Let them guide you in what to say. Do not give specifics to him, do not promise him you'll meet him later, and do not promise you'll talk later.

5) After 3 contacts get a restraining order. You need it to protect your family WHEN not if, you use your gun. Before walking out and leaving your home check the perimeter.

6) You will all be alright. Just keep that gun with you at all times and the minute he enters your home without permission or gets within 5 ft. of you yell at the top of your lungs STOP OR I"LL SHOOT and draw your gun. Unfortunately, with the mentally ill you usually only get only one shot.

7) The only reason I survived until the police arrived was because I had martial arts training. You don't, so do whatever you can to protect yourself and your family.

8) Get support,

Holy sh*t!!

You keep Mr. Shiney near and for heaven's sake - go to the cops. Good lord...

And hey - if you need to get the freak outta Dodge, y'all got a spot here. Just sayin'...

Holy shit.

I'd give advice, but it's all been said. Hope you get rid of this bastard, one way or another, soon.
